Periodontics

The foundation of every healthy smile is the gums and the bone that support it.

What is periodontics

Periodontics deals with the tissues that support your teeth: the gums and the bone. When that foundation is diseased, any cosmetic or restorative treatment built on top of it has its days numbered. That is why, in many cases, periodontics is the first step of a broader plan.

What it includes

Open flap periodontal treatment

This procedure is performed when tartar and bacteria build up below the gumline, in deep areas that cannot be cleaned with conventional techniques. It involves gently lifting the gum to reach the tooth root directly and remove calculus and bacterial plaque.

Bone grafts

A bone graft restores or increases bone volume in the jaw. It is used when the natural bone is not enough to support a dental implant or to keep the teeth stable. The graft can come from the patient, from synthetic materials or from specialized banks, always with complete safety.

Clinical crown lengthening

It involves reshaping the gum and, in some cases, the bone around the tooth to expose more of the tooth surface. It is done to improve the look of the smile or to make it easier to place a restoration such as a crown or a filling.
